Every Sunday Mandir hosts Maha Parsad after Sunday Services
Maha Parsad is usually sponsored by one family or a group of families. on rare occasions when there are no sponsors, Mandir itself sponsors the Maha Parsad. Usually 150 to 200 people enjoy this Maha Parsad every Sunday. A devotee can sign up to sponsor Maha Parsad on the "hosting calendar" conveniently located right outside the Mandir's kitchen wall or they can contact Ashima Patel @ 832-563-6689 or Raj Gupta @ 832-687-9829. When singing up on the calander, please make sure you put in your full name and phone number.
If you are the Host, here are the guidelines: - Food can be cooked in the Temple. Please ensure no onion or garlic is used when cooking food in the Temple. - Or $501, as of January 1st 2008, dollors can be given to the Temple and you can request them to get the food cooked. This menu will contain Roti, Rice, Raita, Dal and one Sabjee. - Or you can have it catered by a restaurant. There are several restaurants that give discounts to hosts for sponsoring the Maha Parsad. When Catering food from a resturant, please inform the resturant to not use onion and garlic in the food. - Host needs to be at the Temple by 11:00 A.M for the puja. - Host needs to bring Halwa and fruits for the puja - Food can be cooked using Mandir's dishes. - Do not serve any pickle or any food considered to be taamsic. - Need to cook enough food for 100 - 150 people. - Do not store any leftover cooked or uncooked food in the refrigerator. The refrigerator is for temporary storage only.
There is a cleaning resource that will clean all the dishes, vaccum and clean up after the services so the host does not have to do any clean up. |
